Christmas in Bartlett, IL

Bartlett's Christmas season, verified event by event: the Holiday Shopping Blitz, Breakfast with Santa, the Nutcracker, Santa's Trolley Express in South Elgin, and a Christmas Day brunch — plus the latest on the village tree lighting. Every date below comes from an official or organizer source.

Tree lighting — expected back, date not yet announced

Merry & Bright, Bartlett's annual tree lighting at Bartlett Park (Oak & North avenues), is expected back for 2026 — but the Village of Bartlett has not announced the date yet (we checked bartlettil.gov on October 18, 2026). We won't guess at a date; we'll update this page the moment the Village posts it.

Here's what the event looked like in 2025, to help you plan: it ran Saturday, December 6, 4:30–7:30 p.m., free, with Santa arriving at 5 p.m. for photos in the Log Cabin, horse-drawn wagon rides through downtown, cookies and cocoa, food trucks, story time in the gazebo, and the tree lighting with a laser light show at 7 p.m. If 2026 follows the same pattern, expect an early-December evening — watch this page and the Village's site for the official word.

Good to know — quick answers

When is Bartlett's tree lighting in 2026?
Not announced yet. Merry & Bright at Bartlett Park is expected back — in 2025 it was Saturday, Dec. 6, 4:30–7:30 p.m. We'll post the 2026 date here as soon as the Village announces it.

Where can kids see Santa?
Breakfast with Santa at Villa Olivia (Dec. 12, preregister), Santa's Calling phone calls (Dec. 7, register by Nov. 23), and Santa's Trolley Express in South Elgin (Nov. 28–Dec. 20) — plus Santa at the tree lighting once the date posts.

What's open on Christmas Day?
Villa Olivia's Christmas Day Brunch, 9:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Park District buildings and the library are closed Dec. 24–25.

Where are the big light displays?
Bartlett doesn't publish an official home-display list, so we're not inventing addresses. The guaranteed lights are the village tree at Bartlett Park once Merry & Bright lights it, plus the decorated trolleys on Santa's Trolley Express — and the Nature Center's Wishmas Tree is worth the stop while you're out.
