Bartlett, IL Construction & Road Alerts

What's torn up, what's wrapping up, and what's still on the drawing board — Bartlett's current road projects in one place, pulled only from official Village of Bartlett, IDOT, and county notices. No rumors: if a project isn't confirmed by the agency doing the work, it isn't listed here.

Active now

IDOT · 2026–2027

US 20 (Lake Street) at Bartlett Rd — intersection rebuild, signals & lighting

The Illinois Department of Transportation is rebuilding this stretch of Lake Street as an intersection improvement with traffic-signal modernization and new roadway lighting. The work also includes resurfacing, shoulder widening, storm-sewer installation, and new sidewalk and shared-use path segments.

Driver impact: a state work zone runs through the Bartlett Rd intersection — allow extra time on Lake Street while crews are active.

Location: US 20 (Lake Street), from about 1,500 ft northwest of Bartlett Rd to about 306 ft southeast of Oak Ave (0.75 miles), in Bartlett and Streamwood, Cook County
Timeline: IDOT letting April 24, 2026; the contract requires all roadways safely open to traffic by September 3, 2027

Village street resurfacing program — various locations

The Village's 2026 street program resurfaces neighborhood streets around town: asphalt surface removal and patching, new binder and surface courses, drainage-structure adjustments, sidewalk, curb & gutter and driveway concrete replacement, pavement marking, and landscape restoration.

Driver impact: rotating, short-term disruption on residential streets while each segment is milled, paved, or getting concrete work — watch for crews and temporary lane shifts on your block.

Location: Various locations in the Village of Bartlett
Timeline: Contract let July 13, 2026, at Bartlett Village Hall; work during the 2026 construction season

Route 25 & W. Bartlett Rd intersection improvements

Federal funding of $1.5 million has been secured to improve the intersection of Route 25 and West Bartlett Road, adding dedicated turn lanes in each direction and a pedestrian crossing to improve traffic flow and safety, linking the Bartlett and South Elgin trail systems. The Village lists the project in its 2026–30 capital improvements program as in the planning or design stage — no construction schedule has been announced, and no road work is underway there yet.

How to use this page

Everything here is checked against the official source — the Village of Bartlett, the Illinois Department of Transportation, county highway departments, or the Illinois Tollway — and we update this page as those notices change. Short-notice closures (water-main breaks, emergency repairs) also go out through the Village of Bartlett's own traffic-alert notifications, which is the fastest channel for same-day changes.

Planning a drive across town this week? Pair this page with the Bartlett events calendar — big event days and road work together are what actually snarl local traffic — or head back to the Bartlett Guide home page for everything else going on around town.
